And then there were 5!

I just made a batch of the world's easiest peanut butter cookies. Usually when recipes claim they are easy, they require fresh cilantro or an eighth of a teaspoon of saffron or an eye of a newt which, I don't care how much I like Harry Potter, I am not gathering. But this one actually is easy. And comprised of things you probably actually have in your cupboard. Check this out: 1 cup peanut butter, 1 cup sugar, 1 egg and 1 tsp vanilla! That's it. Stir it all together, drop cookies onto baking sheet and cook at 325 for 15 minutes. So, there! That is my life for you, summed up into one small recipe. Oh and this other small story. All morning Sadie, Copper and I have been hearing a high-pitched, "thwup, thwup!" outside our sliding glass door. I thought for sure it was just more maintenance upstairs, but it kept up and plus, didn't sound like any tool I've ever heard. The dogs kept looking out the window and then back at me like, "um, what's going on out there?" and I kept looking back at them like, "what are you looking at me for? I can't even find a job, lower your expectations please," but I did finally relent and go outside. When guess what?! A tiny little chipmunk's head was poking out from beneath our glass door frame! I ran back inside and prepared a small dish of peanut butter for him (or her) but so far, nothing. And the sound is gone. I think though, when Bud comes home from his trip, I will tell him I adopted another animal.

This is indeed the best and easiest recipe. Emily gave it to me a while back and it is my new standard for peanut butter cookies. I've even made them after dinner when I was craving dessert -- that's how quickly you get your cookies (I cook mine for only 10 minutes). Try this for a twist: Mix in some chocolate chips (milk chocolate are my favorite).
