I love you, very

Our housekeeper at work is from Albania. She's probably in her 60's and speaks very little English. It's frustrating because we want to at least be able to chit chat - from one seemingly miserable job-holder to the next - but when we've tried to, it ended in disaster. I attempted to ask her if I should be recycling my empty cardboard boxes and I'm pretty sure she thought I was chastising her for not throwing the box away. It occurred to me a few days ago that it's easy to translate, at least single words, on a bunch of websites online. So I found one for Albanian and bookmarked it to show her. Tuesday I finally worked up the courage to butcher her name to her face and show her the translation site on my computer. It took a minute of orangutan motioning, but when she realized what it was, her eyes lit up and she laughed. We translated a few words and I wrote them down as a cheat sheet and then she pointed to her watch, said the word supervisor and left. About an hour later she came back in, around the desk to my side, patted me on the back and said, "I love you, very".
