Nancy, they do not qualify as "mature"

For yesterday's lunch shift I had some of the good tables i.e. a section likely to bring in money. Which also meant I got cut late - good money-wise, but also means you stick around while everyone else is getting their side-work done and trickling out. I was running into the kitchen when one of our hostesses walked by me and muttered, "I just sat you and, ahead of time, I'm sorry," I soon found out why (cue scary music). Three of the world's oldest women were sitting at my table, one who's wispy hair had been fluffed about 5 inches off of her forehead. Not long after taking their order, I realized she was the leader of the group. She bossed the other's around, "Go ahead and order Audrey, I'm not ready," and spoke for everyone else, to me, as if interpreting TO A YOUNG PERSON. When I brought The Leader her sweet potato (and yes, the only thing she ordered, oh aside from the water!) she screeched out, "I'm being ripped off!"because you see, it was much smaller than the sweet potatoes she'd come to expect from our restaurant. She went on to tell me, through her mustache, that the music was much too loud and that her mother would roll over in her grave if she saw how we threw peanuts on the floor. Your mother? You have one? You weren't spit from the bowels of hell at The Beginning? I wasn't that worried about a tip and it was small, but honestly, for what they had, it was ok. They pretty much ordered air with a side of complaints. Make that a double side. When The Leader was leaving she approached my manager about the music being too loud and - even though I'm totally on board with how annoying she was, I think he is having major problems with his wife or something - he told her if she didn't like it, she didn't have to come back. That is a whole nother story but maybe you should take a few days off if you want to strangle a little old lady for being opinionated. Because come on?

I had a very short food service career. (do you pick up from the left? serve on the right?) I am in awe of you. I so wish I could have been at the next table.
