Samples! I love samples!

A new Whole Foods opened up just down the street from us last weekend but when Bud and I went to visit, the car line to get into the parking lot was being directed by a cop. Bud just said, "oh hell no," or something to that effect and we turned around. But today! Today was a Tuesday and a few days after the grand opening. And the middle of the day. Even so it was still packed, but manageable. I think I can safely sum my feelings for this new specialty grocery store up in one short sentence: not until it's legal for everyone but I am going to marry a Whole Foods. I am going to bathe in the wine isle and then wash my hair with the french bread samples. I sampled 3 pieces of smooth, creamy, aged-cheddar and (after checking out the price) bought a quarter pound of Black Forest ham. I tasted a crisp cube of a tart but sweet variety of apple. I overheard a couple discussing a purchase and at one point the husband said, "I told you, I'm just looking for one that isn't wildly expensive!" I bought herbal mint shampoo and can we talk about the effect that has on a girls' outlook? Smell my minty hair and tell me how happy it makes you. I passed a brick oven toasting pizzas and small cakes decorated like bright paint on white paper. I love you Whole Foods and if you'll have me, I'll try and make you the happiest grocery story in the world.
