Just a little farther now...

I had almost forgotten what it meant to have a puppy, Sadie has matured so much in the 2 years I’ve had her. Yes, she still likes to be near me, but if it requires dragging herself out of the cozy nest she has just so painstakingly created, then forget it. Copper on the other hand cannot be away from his mama’s side. I was once again used to using the bathroom alone until I heard the thud of his head on the other side of the door. Then his large eyes peeked around the corner and in he came, only to rest his head in my lap. As I peed.

He and Sadie are expressly forbidden from coming into our bedroom. The one human-only space in the house. But the screaming loneliness got to him this morning and I stepped out of the shower to find him guarding the bathroom door. (He can thud into the guest bathroom but this one is in our bedroom). When I clapped my hands to remind and tell him through gritted teeth that he is not supposed to be in here, he jumped up and plunked himself at the threshold of the bedroom. And then quietly reached his paws inside the room as if to say I MUST SHARE YOUR SPACE THIS IS A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH.
